How To Choose A Tree Care Company

We’ve heard some scary stories lately. We’ve had a couple clients tell us that a company recommended treating their tree for emerald ash borer but the tree wasn’t even an ash tree! This concerns Wright Outdoor Solutions as much as it concerns you. We care about the health of your tree and provide recommendations as if they were a tree in our own backyard.

With a million options out there, how are you to know which company to choose? We’ve put together a list of things to ask before hiring a tree care company.

Q: Is your company a member of professional organizations?

Membership of professional organization is voluntary, but it demonstrates a level of professionalism, commitment to continuing education and a willingness to stay up-to-date on industry news.

Wright Outdoor Solutions stringently follows the guidelines and standards set by the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA) and the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA). We are proud to be the first TCIA accredited company in the state of Iowa and hire the most ISA Certified Arborists in the state.

Q: What certifications and qualifications does your staff hold?

The above example serves as only one of many reasons it is important to hire an ISA Certified Arborist. Not only does an ISA Arborist specialize in the care of trees, but they are trained to work safely while caring for and maintaining trees. Recently, we outlined the value of an ISA Certified Arborist on our blog.

The bottom line is if you were having trouble with your car, you would take it to a mechanic, and it shouldn’t be any different with your trees. When choosing a tree care company, verify the credentials of the people who will be assessing the health of your tree. If you want to verify a credential or search for an arborist near you, take advantage of the handy search tool provided on the ISA website here.

Q: What makes my ash tree a good candidate to treat?

A tree care company without an ISA Certified Arborist on staff might not be able to make the distinction between a tree that should or should not be treated. At Wright Outdoor Solutions, we want to provide you with the most up-to-date and useful information possible. If we don’t think an ash tree is worth treating, we will communicate that to you so you can make an informed decision. Not to mention, we won’t recommend you to treat a look-alike ash tree such as a walnut, hickory or hackberry.

Trees are an asset to your property, and we want you to feel confident when hiring a tree care company! When hiring someone to treat your trees, keep in mind these questions to weed out unqualified companies.
