Conquer Your Gardening Fears

January 4, 2016 by Wright Outdoor Solutions

If this is the year you’ve decided to try gardening, fear no more! It’s time to conquer your fears and explore the amazing world of gardening. Here are some things to keep in mind as you venture into this new world of growing.

  1. Start Small
Start with container gardening or a small plot of land to keep things contained and avoid overwhelming yourself with maintenance

  1. Grow What You Love
Grow items you will get joy from and use, such as herbs for cooking

  1. Take Notice Of Your Surroundings
Evaluate the area you plan to garden in, and take note of critters that may pose a threat, such as rabbits who love to nibble on fresh garden goodies. Look for the area you will get the most sun so your new garden can get ample rays

  1. Water The Right Way
Install a watering system so you don’t over or under water

  1. Treat Your Soil With Care
Make sure the soil you are working with is healthy, and continually add new top soil or compost to feed and replenish

  1. Educate Yourself
Visit garden centers and nurseries and ask questions to learn – the staff at Wright Outdoor Solutions has a wealth of information and is ready to help get you off the ground and running

  1. Keep It Close
Keep your garden close to you so the maintenance process becomes part of your daily routine instead of a chore

  1. Allow Things to Thrive
When your garden items look good and healthy, let them be – don’t over maintain or you may hinder their success

  1. Don’t Try to be a Perfectionist
Gardens are living creatures and not meant to be perfect, so give yourself a break

  1. Live and Learn
Dive in and try things – you will learn more that way
