The European Federation of Interior Landscape Groups has named Rhipsalis as the 2016 Indoor Plant of the Year. This succulent, often called “mistletoe cactus”, was nominated for indoor plant of the year by public vote, and then chosen as the winner by a panel of independent judges.

Plants considered for Indoor Plant of the Year must fit the following criteria:

    • Makes you feel good
    • Helps you feel relaxed
    • Easy to maintain

      • Rhipsalis is native to parts of the Caribbean, Central America, and South America. Although native to tropical climates, Rhipsalis grows in low to medium light (including artificial light), making it perfect for a home or office. As with many potted plants, Rhipsalis does best with well-drained soil.

Indoor plants are growing in popularity for both home and office. More and more workplaces are realizing the importance of indoor plants in corporate settings due to research that shows they boost health, productivity and creativity, and are shown to reduce stress levels. In addition, indoor plants absorb background noise, and create an inviting environment for guests and employees.
