In 2025, Cheryl Schweizer joined the team as an account manager for clients in Kansas City and its surrounding areas. With a strong background in native and ornamental plants and tropical plants, and previous experience as a floral designer, she enjoys taking ideas from customers and bringing them to life!
Cheryl has more than 15 years of industry experience. She’s been a hobbyist in keeping tropical plants for as long as she can remember. Her career started in wildlife biology, studying habitats and vegetation to find areas suitable for wildlife. Over time, Cheryl found herself working more with plants, leading to her role as a horticulturalist. She has used her background to design and implement green infrastructure to serve wildlife, beautify urban areas, and provide environmental services such as run-off abatement, minimizing pollution and erosion control.
She has a Bachelor of Science in biology and a Master of Science in wildlife biology. Cheryl is a certified wetland delineator with an emphasis on soils and hydrology and a certified tree keeper. In addition, she’s a Wildland Fire Manager Level 1, Licensed Commercial Applicator Category 2 (Forestry) and Category 3 (Ornamental and Turf). In 2024, she won the Missouri Municipal League Innovation Award for Monarchs on Main.
In her free time, Cheryl enjoys gardening, hiking, camping and kayaking. Fun fact, the zinnia is her favorite flower. It can be easily grown by all experience levels, great nectar source, terrific cut flower, continuous blooms and easy to save seeds for next year!
