The flavor and aroma of mint can be found in a multitude of products, from ice cream and gum to essential oils and beauty products. The aromatic herb is fast-growing and comes in hundreds of varieties to choose from. Each variety has a different scent and flavor and can be used for aromatic, medicinal or culinary purposes. Regardless of the variety grown, it is important to keep the herb contained to a container, as it can be quite invasive and otherwise take over an area.

We sell three varieties of mint here at the Garden Center:

Blog Post #126 - Refresh (Peppermint)

Peppermint

Best planted in full to part sun, this mint variety boasts a refreshing scent and flavor. Peppermint is an old standby and is used for both culinary and medicinal purposes. It adds great flavor to teas, desserts and salads. It also acts as a natural insect and pest repellant. Planted near your garden, it will help deter aphids, cabbage flies, and other insects. When placed around your home’s foundation, it can help deter ants, mice and other vermin. An additional bonus is that the flowers this herb produces are pollinator attractors.

Blog Post #126 - Refresh (Spearmint)

Spearmint

Best planted in full to part sun, this mint variety has a strong aroma and flavor. It makes a great addition to hot or cold drinks, salads, sauces and desserts.
